- A really good yarn shop. You know, the kind where you can go in and touchy feely all the yarn and books and sit around and knit a little and make that ridiculously-over-priced-spontaneous-purchase for that pink cashmere yarn that calls your name every time you walk in. A place I can go and get help when I can not, for the life of me and after reading 43 help books, figure out how to make that Lace stitch or bind off a project I'm working on. I really need a yarn store closer than an hour away. On the other hand, I have saved a ton of money because I'm not making all those impetuous purchases.
- A good cheese shop. One where you go in and they let you taste the cheese and when you make your choice they wrap it up in brown paper ... or something, and you are $20 lighter but happy with your cheese. Individually wrapped American cheese just isn't cutting it.
- A restaurant where they know what "vegetarian " means. I want a restaurant where I can order a meal instead of only eatting the bread and a side of veggies. I want a restaurant where they don't smile at you and say, "But we have chicken and fish!" Huh?
We finally did find a fantastic candy store in Dahlonega. I think their English Toffee is better than See's. Unfortunately, I don't need the calories. I also found a really good knitting group. They are a marvelous group of women that I meet with once a week and we knit and talk - and eat donuts at Dutch Monkey Donuts in Cumming. Yum, Yum! Ya, those aren't going to be doing my hips any good either. I probably should walk to that knitting group! Lastly, I found a great volunteer opportunity in NOA, an organization that helps victims of abuse. I love working with them and feel like there is some little meaning in my life when I help out.
It's snowing outside and getting colder by the minute so I had better get back to knitting the socks I'm working on. Might need them tomorrow.
